Students

EIPBN strongly encourages student attendance, and this year we will provide both financial support and special program elements for student attendees.

Student support:

  • Reduced registration cost.  Register at www.yesevents.com/eipbn  and select student attendee.
  • Partial travel support.  Student’s advisers may request travel support by contacting the conference chair by email at eipbn2015@uky.edu
  • Reduced room rates and room sharing.  A small number of hotel rooms are available for students at a reduced rate of $169 per night.  Preference is given to students sharing a room (double occupancy).  If you have identified a room mate for EIPBN please email eipbn2015@uky.edu with your names.  Posting to EIPBN’s Facebook site offers a good way to identify room mates.

Student program:

  • Short course.  A short course entitled “State-of-the Art Nanofabrication – Fundamentals and Advanced Applications” will be held from 8:30am to 3pm on Tuesday, May 26.  Students who are also attending the conference may apply to attend the short-course at no additional charge. To apply, please submit a short description of a challenging nanofabrication project or issue that you are currently addressing and what you hope to accomplish by attending the course (300 words or less) to Dr. Deirdre Olynick (dlolynick@lbl.gov) by April 13, 2015. Notification will be given by April 30, 2015.
  • Virtual job fair.  EIPBN has long recognized the superior quality of the students who attend our symposia. This year we have again arranged to send C.V.’s of students and recent Ph.D.’s to a group of well known universities and companies.  If you wish to have your C.V. distributed, please send an e-mail with your C.V. as a Word or PDF attachment to mfeldm1@lsu.edu. Please state that you have registered for EIPBN 2015, that you wish your C.V. to be distributed, and that you expect to receive (or have received) your Ph.D. within 3 years. The subject line, and the title of the attachment, should both read “EIPBN 2015 jobs” followed by your family name. (for example, “EIPBN 2015 jobs – Feldman”)  Please limit your C.V. to 2 pages. If your paper(s) has been accepted for EIPBN 2015, please also enter the author/title information and the short summary prepared for the pocket program guide as a third page in the C.V., with the heading  “EIPBN 2015 Papers.”  All C.V.’s and requests for C.V.’s must be received by close of business, Wednesday, June 3, 2015. However EARLY BIRD C.V.’s, received before May 18, will be distributed before the conference, so that potential employers attending EIPBN 2015 can meet with you on site.
  • Student breakfast. On Friday morning (5/29/2015) before the conference sessions begin, there will be a special breakfast for students to receive travel awards, to meet conference sponsors, and to learn about how the conference is organized and conducted.  The breakfast will be held in the Manchester Grand Hyatt, and the exact time and place of the breakfast will be announced at the conference.  A ticket for the Breakfast will be provided to students along with their conference materials at the registration desk.  If you feel you should have received an invitation to the student breakfast but don’t have one,  please inform the Registration Desk or the Conference Chair.
