EIPBN Early Career Award
Awarded to
Carla Perez-Martinez, University College London

Carla Perez-Martinez is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London. Dr Perez-Martinez joined the LCN in 2020, where she is a principal investigator leading work towards the development of nanomanufacturing technologies based on new sources of ions from ionic liquids. Dr Perez-Martinez obtained her BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 2011, 2013 and 2016, respectively. From 2016 to 2019 she was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford, where she was also appointed Junior Research Fellow of Trinity College.

Shida Tan
2025 Honoree / 2018 Program Chair
Dr. Shida Tan is a Principal Engineer at Intel’s physical debug technology development group, where she is leading cross-industry R&D projects to develop advanced technologies for on-die circuit analysis for advanced semiconductor process nodes. She is broadly recognized across the industry for spearheading advanced ion beam research and applications in the field of semiconductor circuit edit, failure analysis, fault isolation, and low yield analysis. Dr. Tan authored over 130 technical publications including a book chapter, 16 issued and pending patents, and 3 Intel trade secrets. She holds leadership positions in various professional organizations, including serving as 2018 EIPBN Program Chair.

In 2025, the Best Student Paper Award was generously sponsored by JEOL USA. The winning paper in each category received a $500 prize and an award plaque.
The winners are also invited to give an Invited Poster Presentation at the 2025 Micro and Nano Engineering (MNE) in Southampton, England, EIPBN’s sister conference in Europe.
