About Franklin Schellenberg

Franklin Schellenberg has a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University for work on nonlinear optical materials at both Stanford and the University of Tokyo.

He has also worked in IBM Research and HP Labs, conducting R&D on lasers, nonlinear optics, holography, and optical lithography.

He has also worked in startups and the large EDA company Mentor Graphics, introducing novel optical lithography approaches to semiconductor design, and became a patent agent in 2000 (Reg. #47,315).

Recently, he has worked as a patent agent for individual and start-up clients for inventions on x-ray sources, semiconductor equipment, robotics, and self-driving vehicles. Since 2022, he has been also affiliated with the patent firm Haynes Beffel & Wolfeld.

He has been Conference Chair for EIPBN (2010) and for various SPIE Conferences and Workshops. He is an inventor on over 33 issued patents, and a contributing author to several books and over 70 technical publications.
