Isotopically Resolved Focused Ion Beam Systems for Quantum Technologies
About Maddison Coke
Maddison Coke is currently a Senior Technical Specialist at the University of Manchester.
After obtaining an MSci in Chemistry from Imperial College, moved to the LCN at UCL to do a PhD with Prof Paul Warburton in the electronic and material properties of zinc oxide and related materials grown by molecular-beam epitaxy. After successfully obtaining her PhD, she then worked as an Experimental Officer at the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester, focusing on plasma deposition, etching, and characterisation of 2D materials in their state-of-the-art cleanrooms. From here, she moved to the Photon Science Institute to work as a senior technical specialist with Prof Rich Curry on the Platform for nanoscale advanced materials engineering (P-NAME), a novel focused ion beam system with an emphasis on single ion detection and isotopic nanoscale modification of materials. Through this work, she has worked with researchers and industry in a wide range of applications from nuclear to photonics. Her current focus is on quantum materials, including the isotopic enrichment of Si and the deterministic implant of buried dopants.
